These jobs both require and develop a range of skills varying from programming to basic computing, to administrative and customer service.
The Service Desk student consultants provide front line support for students, faculty and staff. These students have the opportunity to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software problems. They are trained to resolve software related problems with little or no supervisor intervention.
Overseas Computing Support Team Student Assistants (OCST SAs)
Student Assistant (SA): SA's provide technical assistance to faculty, staff and students staying at the WFU Overseas houses in Vienna, Venice and London. They work closely with members of the IS Overseas Computing Support Team to resolve issues with ThinkPads, the house's wireless network, printers, and multimedia equipment. These students are nominated by staff and faculty outside of the Information Systems Department. Each student works for one semester.
Student Consultants (SCs)
These students are chosen from current Service Desk Student Consultants with at least one semester of work experience. SC's works at least one night per week and are responsible for the general operation of the Service Desk. This includes handling system downtime and escalating issues to management. They receive directives from a staff manager and help lead the team of student workers during our evening Service Desk hours.
